How to get the most out of Facebook

If LinkedIn can serve as a Platform for your professional establishment, Facebook acts as your social diary.

Facebook is the most preferred social networking site in the world (Except India, Brazil - Where Orkut leads the race), Unlike LinkedIn Facebook entertains people of all segments (students to scientist) to be a part of it.

Two advantages that Facebook has over other social networking sites:

1) Excellent interface (Ease of usage: uploading Photos, Streaming of Videos is done in magical minutes)

2) Population- Technology can just support your Social media activities, but what makes the forum hot-happening is People (Facebook has 200 million active users)

Blogging is no more a hobby it’s a profession. If you are in to blogging and if you are looking for more Traffic/readership for your blog, follow these ten simple mantras with Facebook

1) Invite Interesting Peoples to be a part of your network (Only people can make the forum more interesting)

2) Have a single Personality, do not confuse your followers.(I have a friend who posts only Motivation Quotes and a funny blogger who comes up with unusual nutty Questions) If you are good at something try to do that in better ways, rather jumping to different arenas. Remember am speaking about Personal branding

3) Ask for suggestions, compared to other sites you get instant responses in Facebook

4) Facebook is the best place to get online Votes (This did work well for me during the slideshare presentation contest)

5) Update your Status message with your latest blogpost, but do not repeat the post

6) Create an engaging fan page for your blog, and invite people to join (This works well, when the content is credible)

7) Update your group or fan page on a regular basis with helpful information and answer to questions.

8) Use Facebook to make announcement regarding Guest Blogging/Contest

9) Be a member of different groups of your choice and get found easily

10) Most importantly have a unique profile page, your goal should to keep the members engaged and make sure people have more things to look, at your page.
